All Africa Games: Falconets Coach, Danjuma Dreams Ghanian Opposition In Final

Following the impressive run form by Nigeria's representative in the Female football competition, the Falconets Gaffer, Christopher Danjuma has expressed his desire to meet the host country Ghana in the final.

The Falconets continued their dominant run at the 13th African Games women’s football tournament in Ghana, thrashing Senegal 4-0 in their second Group B match. This victory secures their place in the coveted semi-finals.

Head Coach Chris Danjuma emphasized the crucial nature of the Senegal game. “We knew we had to win to solidify our position,” he said at the post-match press conference. He highlighted the importance of maintaining focus and relentless pressure throughout the match.

Coach Danjuma’s unwavering belief in his players was evident when discussing Motunrayo Ezekiel, who came off early in the first game but played a longer stint and scored against Senegal. “We must believe in our players despite mistakes,” he stated. “This trust empowers them to deliver.”

Looking ahead to the semifinals, Coach Danjuma reiterated the team’s objective of giving their maximum effort and leaving no stone unturned in pursuit of victory. He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to continue their impressive form and ultimately secure the gold medal, emphasizing the importance of refining their gameplay with each match. “We want to reach the final, playing against the best African teams,” he declared. “This experience will be invaluable for the upcoming World Cup.”

Coach Danjuma responded diplomatically to comments made by the Ghanaian national coach regarding Nigeria’s performance at the WAFU games. “I’m not a coach that talk about other teams, anybody can put a set of players on the pitch at any level, even players like Haaland miss chances, so that he said Nigeria were missing goals, that is his opinion, every season changes with players and tactics, my prayer is let’s play against Ghana in the final,” he said.

Reflecting on the significance of reaching the semifinals, Coach Danjuma expressed his elation and pride in the team’s achievements. He emphasized the importance of proving themselves against top African teams and showcasing their championship-winning mentality. 

“Qualifying fills me with immense pride,” he shared. 

“Competing against fellow African teams is crucial for development. We want to showcase ourselves as champions on the continental stage,” he said.

With a semi-final berth secured, Coach Danjuma expressed his team’s preparedness. 

“Every team here deserves respect,” he said. “We’ll be ready for whoever we face next, by the grace of God.”

The Falconets have impressed with their dominant performances. With their sights set on the gold medal, Nigeria awaits their next challenge in the semi-finals.
