Heartland FC Youngstar, Mgbemena Excited With First Goal, Says Many More to Come
Heartland FC midfielder, Ikechukwu Mgbemena says he is yet to come term with the fact that he has got his first professional goal for the Naze Millionaires.
Mgbemena wheeled away in celebration after he nodded his side's second goal from the near post off Austin Osayande's well taken corner kick in the 25th minute of the 2-0 win over Abia Warriors on Wednesday at the Awka City Stadium.
The youngster told Heartland FC Media three days after the feat that it feels like he was dreaming and to look at the net to be certain the ball actually went in.
"I could not contain my excitement after the goal. I was so shocked and had to look back again to be sure the ball was at the back of the net before I continued celebrating. It was a very good feeling for me," Mgbemena disclosed to Heartland FC Media.
"I have been trying it before the Abia Warriors game but I never succeeded with it until that game. I am grateful to my teammates, coaches and everyone at Heartland FC for the support thus far."
The Anambra born midfielder said he sees Heartland FC as his stepping stone because he is eager to take his skills abroad and play in one of the top clubs in Europe at the right time.
He appreciates his fans and that of the club for the love and support shower on him since he came to the club.
Mgbemena added that he hopes to replicate his performance against Abia Warriors in the tie with Rivers United if he is fielded on Sunday.
