Prince Ogbonna Redeems Cash Prizes To Winners Of Maiden Gov Uzodimma's Victory Cup

 




Following his resolve and determination to reinvigorate the face of sports in Imo State, the Imo State Sports Commission Boss, Prince Sir Eleazar Onyewuchi Ogbonna "Ambassador" has continued to add vigour and glamour to his administrative antecedents.


Prince Ogbonna who has vowed to revive and restore the lost glory of Imo Sports has redeemed the cash prizes of all the winners during the maiden edition of the Governor Hope Odidika Uzodimma's Victory Football Competition recently held in Imo.


At the ceremony were a total cash sum of N1m was handed to the trophy winners second position team as well as the third position winners, the Chief of Staff to the Imo Sports Commission Chairman, Hon Lawrence Okoye once again congratulated the winners for their efforts while commending other teams for their level of discipline and commitment to the competition.


Okoye who represented the Imo Sports Commission at the brief event which was held at Dan Anyiam Stadium in the present of some management members of the Imo State Sports Commission as well as members of the Technical Committee of the sports Commission described Prince Ogbonna as a Professor of Sports who's desire to make sports working again in Imo is next to none.





He added that in the nearest future, the Sports Commission will be organizing a mother of all Sports Festival in the South East where other state around the Eastern states would be invited to help discover talents as well as help keep the youths of Imo meaningfully engaged in line with the Governor's youth empowerment programme under sports.


Reacting on behalf of the beneficiaries, Coach Gerald of Oru East LGA who's team won the trophy and the sum of N500, 000 thanked the organizers for ensuring a hitch free competition and thanked God for making it possible to showcase his talent and that of his players even winning the tournament.


He further pleaded that more of such competitions should be often organized in the state noting that it would not only help to keep the state busy but give great opportunities to our hidden talents on the streets and our villages to be discovered and groomed for brighter future.


Other teams who received their Cash prizes include, Owerri West LGA who came second receiving cash of N300, 000, while Ahiazu Mbaise who placed third got the sum of N200, 000.
