SWAN Urges Imo Police To Investigate Member's Accident From Hit & Run Driver

 

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Imo Chapter has called on the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji  Aboki Danjuma to as a matter of priority investigate the remote and the immediate cause of the hit and run driver that rammed into one of their members, Cosmos Chukwuemeka on the evening of Wednesday 6th March, 2024.

Chukwuemeka was allegedly knocked down by one way crazy suspected bus driver which left him in unconscious state while his phone was also taken away.

Information gathered revealed that Mr Chukwuemeka was hit by the alleged dare devil bus driver after his evening  shift programme on the fateful day in front of Darling FM Radio Station on Wetheral Road, Owerri. 

He was rushed to  ST. David's Hospital, Ikenegbu by good Samaritans in his unconscious state before he was revived.

Chukwuemeka, who emerged as the Governor Hope Uzodinma Media Merit Award as the Best Sports Journalist Imo State in 2022, has allegedly gone for head x-ray, heart and other vital organs due to the impact of the accident and Imo SWAN feels it is germane that the Imo State Police Command should as a matter of exigency, wade into the issue so as to ascertain the mission of the hit and run Bus driver.

The Chairman Imo SWAN, Everest Ezihe expressed his sadness at the development and he said: 

"it is important for the Nigerian Police to do all within their powers to fish out the person or persons behind the attack.

"It's our desire that the management of Darling FM, Owerri should take adequate medical care of their revered Staff and Imo State Police Command to hasten actions so that the culprit(s) will be arrested to face the full wrath of the law.

"It was an unfortunate incidence and all hands must be on deck to ensure that Cosmos Chukwuemeka gets the best medical attention and those behind it be apprehended to face the music of their action."

The body further disclosed that it's not pleased with the current health situation of Cosmos Chukwuemeka and as such is beckoning on our Sports loving Imo State Governor, His Excellency, Sen Hope Uzodinma for financial assistance to  enable our injured member to properly take care of his health accumulated hospital bills.
