Communal Clash: Abia Community Lifts Ban On Ebonyi Indigenes Trading At Their Markets

 

 

The Amaba Ugwueke Community in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State has lifted the ban on indigenes of Akaeze Community in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State buying and selling at It's Eke and Orie markets, onfonews.com.ng reports

The ban was placed shortly after Akaeze indigenes invaded the Ugwueke Community on January 23, 2024 and took 11 youths of the community hostage.

Infonews.com.n learnt the invaders also looted palm fruits, cash, motorcycles and other items from the Ugwueke Community.

 The decision to lift the ban was taken at an enlarged meeting of the Amaba Ugwueke Community held on Thursday, April 18.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the Amaba Ugwueke Community said it also decided to lift the ban following the apology tendered by the Akaeze Community for the dastardly acts of their youths.

The communique which signed by Okorie David, Chairman and Edmund Agbayi Okorie, Publicity Secretary further disclosed that the two state governments also waded into the matter with a view to brokering amicable settlement.
