IMO POLICE NABS ONE SUSPECT FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF LOCALLY MADE PISTOL






Imo state police command has apprehended a suspect for unlawful possession of locally made pistol.

According to a release made public by the Command's Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye and sited by infonews.com.ng;

"Intelligence-led raid on an identified criminal hideout at No 1 Chidiobi Street, Site and Services, World Bank Layout, by Operatives of the Command’s Narcotics Unit led to the arrest of a 31-year-old young man named Micheal Uzondu, of Amimo in Ikeduru LGA of Imo State and the recovery of one locally made pistol and suspected hard drug substance in his possession.


"On interrogation, the suspect confessed that he bought the said pistol from a gun-runner at Ugirike in Ikeduru LGA and intends to use it for his protection. An investigation is ongoing, efforts are underway to apprehend the dealers and manufacturers of the locally-made guns. The suspect will be arraigned in court upon completion of a comprehensive investigation.


"While calling on the residents of Imo State to support the Police with credible information to curb the proliferation of illicit firearms and ammunition which poses a serious threat to the overall peace and security of the State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma reaffirms the Command’s unalloyed dedication to enhancing the safety and wellbeing of all and sundry in the State.
