First Mahi FC Committed to Importance of Players Acquiring Proper Education - Prince Onuoha

The Chairman of First Mahi FC, Prince Chidiebere Eze Onuoha has retracted the importance of players also going to school or acquiring skilled education.

Speaking to infonews.com.ng on the involvement of some of his players in this year's West African Examination Council (WAEC), currently going on, Prince Onuoha said the importance can not be over emphasized.

"It is very important to have this players especially at their young age ensuring they get basic academic education or skilled education as it would help mould a better future when they retire from active football.

"In First Mahi FC both our male and female teams, we prioritize that and in that line have designed a scheme that allows them to also play and go to school.

"As you already know, football has know retirement benefits but when the players gets equipped academically or skilled in one skill or the other, it affords them to fall back on those knowledge after their active playing days.

"Again it's not all the players that make it big in football at the same time so it is very important to motivate and help them at the young age to also engage in other programmes that will be of immense help to their lives in the near future.

"When you take a look at the trend of things you would agree with me that  even the made professional players including Nigerians such Desire Oparanozie and USA based Alozie are grounded academically and still played or are still playing professionally.

"So like you have noticed we encourage our players such as Orjiako Chiamaka who is currently with Abia Angels FC and Fortune Onuoha who also played for First Mahi in this seasons NLO One League among others on their academics.

"They are preparing for their WAEC exams which is basic in Isu Girls Secondary School and Isu High School for the boys.

We have many of them who are still in the Junior  and Senior Secondary as well those that just took their JAMB while some are in IMSU, FUTO and other Tertiary Institutions including the Nursing School.

"We are will continue to do our best and hope that in the near future these young ones would become very important citizens in the society even while playing football.
