Gov Uzodimma Withdraws Approval of Extension of Service for Civil Servants
..Says Defaulters Must Refund Monies for Overstay
Following clarion calls against some civil servants in Imo state who falsify their continue stay in service after due date of retirement, the Government has come hard on them.
In a release signed by the newly inaugurated Secretary to the Government of Imo State SGI, Chief Cosmos Iwu and sighted by infonews.com.ng, the Government has directed stiver measure against civil servants who refuse to proceed on retirement when they are due.
"In response to the concerns of the Organized Labour and the need to ensure seamless career progression of civil servants, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo state has approved the immediate suspension of approval of extension of service for all categories of civil servants, especially those in the cadre of Directors and Permanent Secretaries.
"Consequently, all those who are due to retirement should follow the extant laws to ensure that they exit on the date of retirement.
"His Excellency has further directed that any civil servant who out of negligence or direct affront to the new directives, refuses to leave service when due for retirement would be made to refund monies paid to him or her within the period of over stay.
