Happy Birthday Cosmos Chukwuemka, The "Puyaka Master"

There was the legendary Ernest Okonkwo. Enterprising Fabio Lanipekun. Pius Osawegie. There was Emeka Odikpo. There was Richard Ashiegbu. All five men functioned at the national front. Here in Imo IBS now IBC there was the iconic Agwu Nwogo. And he was ably assisted by Sam Rose Anyaugo, Chris Abiaziem and John Nwogu. If you never listened to any of these sports commentators while running football commentaries in 1970s/80s you really missed so much! 

When there was a drought of sports commentators and it appeared sports on radio was going extinct, one man emerged from the blues - first as Larry Echejile and later came to be known as Larry Izamoje. Izamoje brought comedy and satire to radio sports commentary in Nigeria using Ogun Radio FM as a launchpad  before going ahead to establishing the first ever daily sports radio in Africa, Brila Sports. 

Majority of Nigeria's radio sports presenters today are Izamoje brought up! One of them is Cosmos Chukwuemeka of Darling FM Owerri. He is, by many account, the most popular sports radio presenter in the South East, currently. His passion for the job is infectious. His zeal for facts is unquenchable. His voice is both soronous and riotous. Cosmas is a reliable professional who can stand down any force and resist any temptation just to do what is right. Many times he can be combative and it is his own way of fighting what he thinks is evil! 

There are three of them today in the South East that have contributed meaningfully to the promotion of modern day radio sports  broadcasting. The pathfinder is Solomon Onu  otherwise known as Mourinho who made Hot FM radio sports a must for sports lovers - he actually made today's radio sports presentation popular but he has lost that popularity to Cosmas, in the present. And the third is a young chap in Flow FM Umuahia known as Wisdom Thomas. These three guys are wonderful and I am using this auspicious occasion of Cosmos birthday to wish them well!
