Prince Ogbonna Rolls Out Immediate Plans For Sports Devt In Imo

 ..As Sports Commission Boss Returns From Europe 

In line with the renewed spirit of His Excellency, the Chairman Imo State Sports Commission, Hon Price Sir Eleazar Onyewuchi Ogbonna "Ambassador" has rolled out his immediate program for the commission on return to the country. 

Speaking through his PA, Hon Neville Okere in Owerri on Tuesday, he revealed that now is the time for action noting that his administration will not relent untill the the sports developmental programmes of his administration for Imo Sports Commission is realized positively.

According to him;

"Top on the list is the immediate commencement of the Imo State Tertiary Institution Governor's Games which will involve all tertiary institutions in the State. 

"The schools will trade tackles in football, Handball and Volleyball among other games. The Institutions are free to register for all three games or any of the games they have comparative advantage.

"This will help fish out some hidden talents in our various institutions that can be showcased nationally and internationally.

"Starting concurrently with the Imo State Tertiary Institution Governor's Games will be the earlier postponed Seminar for, Secondary School Games Masters in the state. The seminar was scheduled to take place before the announcement  of the dissolution of boards and Parastatals.

Graciously, the return to office of the Imo Sports Commission Chairman by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Sen Hope Uzodimma has given a positive nod by the Chairman for its takeoff. 

"The Seminar as it were, is designed to intimate/educate Secondary School Games Masters on how the Commission intends to reactivate the long lost Secondary Schools Games that was the pride of the state and the nation at large in the 80s and late 90s.

The Sports Commission Chairman, Prince Ogbonna also stated that he will equally organize Competitions for the Disabled persons which he noted will get his priority, adding that whatever is good for the goose is good for the gander. 

He further informed that his continuous support for the Imo FA Veterans Football Competition which he was the major sponsor in the median edition last year will be sustained. Prince Ogbonna said that this year's Veteran Cup will surpass last year's edition as his interaction and plans with the FA concerning this year has been supportively welcomed.

He reiterated that the Shared Prosperity 3R mantra of Governor Hope Uzodimma is very much active in the sports sector adding that the Talent Hunt European tour of our talented footballers is still on the card which according to him buttresses the move to diversify youth empowerment programme through sports.
