Two teams have secured their passage into the semifinal stage of the ongoing Nwankwo Kanu U-19 Football Competition, infinews.com.ng can authoritatively report.

A statement from the General Coordinator of the tournament, Hon Uche "Ezege" also indicates that the third and fourth quarter final games will be decided today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday).

Heartland Jnr FC and Compos FC Academy both progressed after beating Shine FC Academy and Marvel FC Academy 1-0 and 4-0 respectively.

Today at the training pitch of the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri by 3pm, Papilo FC Academy will aim to join the semi final sides when they take on St Vincent FC in a quarter final tie while on Saturday Pakat FC Academy will square up against Tobi Sports FC Academy for the last bet in the semi final games.

Ezege who was full of praise for the organizers and the participating teams for their sportsmanship conduct since the commencement of the tournament despite some challenges also commended Enyimba FC Sporting Director for his tireless efforts to ensure a successful outing.

He noted that the LOC members and the technical crew are taken down names of the talents discovered so far insisting that the real aim of the competition is to produce future stars who will be like Kanu Nwankwo, Ifeanyi Ekwueme among other ex internationals.

The competition after the semifinal stages at both Aba and Owerri Centres will see two teams from both centers converge at Aba for the grand finale.
