Onyeocha, Prince Ogbonna Paleys With Veterans On Sports Devt In Imo








The synergy and collaborative effort existing between the Imo State Ministry of Sports and the State Sports Commission has continued to gain more positives infonews.com.ng can authoritatively report.


This is evident as the Imo Sports Commissioner, Hon Obinna Evarestus Onyeocha "Onowu" and the Sports Commission Chairman, Hon Prince Sir Eleazar Onyewuchi Ogbonna "Ambassador" paid a visit to two popular Sports Veteran Associations on Saturday.


Onyeocha and Prince Ogbonna visited the Association of Ex-Footballers And Friends (ASEF) as well as  Imo All Stars International at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Saturday.


Addressing the notable veterans, Prince Ogbonna noted that the visit was part of the innovation he and the Sports Commissioner has embarked upon to familiarize themselves with the sports veterans in the state as well as other sports stakeholders in Imo to ensure that sports is returned back it's glory days.


While acknowledging that the cordial working relationship that exists between him and the Commissioner is one of kind and the first time also said it's beyond limits urging the veterans to join hands with them to take back sports to its original position in the state.


He further expressed that they are already mechanisms in place to ensure that all sports in the state will experience complete revival in line with the His Excellency's mission and vision for the loving youths of the state through the Shared Prosperity 3R mantra.


In his remark, the honourable Commissioner for Sports, Hon Onyeocha expressed his delight at meeting the veterans whom he acknowledged were faces he also knows.


He maintained that the Sports Ministry and Commission can not achieve their purpose in sports development alone hence their visit to harmonize with veterans for a more robust cooperations to move sports forward in the state.


The veterans in their response respectively applauded the Sports Commissioner and the Sports Commission Chairman for their openness and harmonious collaboration which they opined is a good panacea for success.


While promising to collaborate with the new sports Sherifs in town, the veterans among other requests urged the government to look into development of facilities which they observed is almost dead.
