Confusion In Imo As Gunmen Kill One In Orji, Two In Nworieubi, Set Waste Mgt Vehicle Ablaze
There was confusion on Tuesday in Orji, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State as gunmen killed a young man while a government vehicle owned by the Waste Management Agency was also set Ablaze at the Nkworji Market area.
This incidents occurred barely twenty-four hours after four police officers and a point-of-sale operator were killed in Irete, Owerri West LGA.
It was gathered that the gunmen, who shot sporadically into the air also burnt the Imo State Government Waste Management Agency vehicle at Nkworji Market in same Owerri North LGA.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the gunmen were shouting, “Stay in your homes. Don’t come out during the sit-at-home if you value your lives.”
The traders and buyers were said to have scampered for safety, abandoning their wares and vehicles as they ran for their lives.
Reacting, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, stressed that police operatives have been massively deployed to area.
“The situation is under control. The miscreants responsible for the attacks will certainly be brought to book,” he said.
In a related development, two yet to be identified men were also killed by Gunmen near the Nworieubi Police Station in Mbaitoli LGA, Imo state.
Although no official statement has been made concerning the Nworieubi incident, but a.video making round indicates that it occurred in the evening of Tuesday July 30, 2024 as people were seen in the video expressing shock at the dastardly act of the protractors.
