King Kanu Steals Show As "Tony One-Week", Ebonyi Govt Functionaries Grace TICO/SELECT Final

..Achievers Produces Great Come Back To Win Trophy 

Former African footballer of the year and FIFA Ambassador, Kanu Papilo' Nwankwo stole the show at the final of the 6th edition of the Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO SELECT Preseason Football Tournament in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state.

The Enyimba FC Chairman was accompanied by his Cheif of Staff, Mr Sam Anozie was joined at the final by the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Sports Hon Richard Idike and the Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor on Sports as well as Mr Tony One Week among many other Ebonyi state Government functionaries who all expressed their delight at the success and development impact of the beautiful game especially in the state.

The final which saw NLO side, Great Achievers FC of Enugu come from behind to level the score line 2-2 against Apex Krane FC and went ahead to win the trophy for the first at their first time of participating in the annual tourney.

FIFA Ambassador while handing out the trophy to the surprise winners commended their fighting and resilient sprit which attributed to what he and his Dream Team mates acheived in 1996 during the Atlanta Olympics games in football against Brazil in the semis and Argentina in the final.

Part of the highlight of the game includes; the one minute on behalf of Late Coach Christian Obi of Heartland FC who died sadly in a motor accident on their way to Abakaliki for the tournament.

They were individual awards handed out to outstanding players including the Most Valuable Player of the competition, Oshin Sunday of Great Achievers, Best Goalkeeper Award, David Adeh of Apex Krane FC and top scorer of the tournament, Ede Franklin of Mathias FC of Abakiliki who scored 2 goals first before 3 others, Oshin Sunday, Ibekwe Prosper of Apex and Abdul Mohammed of Great Achievers FC of Enugu.
