By Ike Njoku

A Frontline aspirant for Oru East Local Government Executive Chairmanship position,Nze Nyerere Ogbenna has promised to reduce crime in the local Government Area if elected.

The former Interim Management Committee Chairman of the local Government stated this while fielding questions from journalists during the Awo-omamma Owu cultural festival celebration held at Akwakuma Girls Secondary school Owerri,Imo State on Sunday August 18,2024.

He said that he knows most of the challenges facing the youth of the area having served as the Interim Management Committee Chairman of the local Government.

Ogbenna hinted that if elected that he is going to empower the youths by enrolling some of them in skill acquisition programmes that will make them self reliant and independent.

The APC contender further hinted that himself and wife are into agriculture, pointing out that if elected that he is going to bring in mechanized agriculture in the local Government and enroll some of the youths into agriculture.

He noted that crime thrives because most of the youth are unemployed, stressing that if the youth are occupied and their minds engaged that none of them will think of going into crime knowing the consequences.

He seemingly lauded the people of Ubachima Awo-omamma for organizing the Owu cultural festival in Owerri, pointing out that culture is the peoples mark of identity and should not be allowed to go into extinction.
