IMSU Alumni: Nwelue, Onuoha, others Inaugurated as new Imo Exco








A legal luminary, Barr Okey Nwelue has been Inaugurated as the new Chairman of Imo State University Alumni Association (Imo State Chapter) amidst commendations.


Also, a renowned Journalist and Public Relations Strategist, Dr Ikenna Onuoha, alongside others were sworn in weekend as State Secretary to steer the ship of the association to a greater height for the next two years.


The inauguration which held in Owerri, the Imo State capital witnessed the presence of dignitaries across all walks of life.


Others inaugurated include, Mrs Becky Asogwa, (Vice Chairman), Vigilus Anukamti (Welfare Officer), Francis Ndimkoha (Organizing Secretary), Wilson Amaefule (Asst Org. Sec), Ike Godwin (Treasurer) and Dr Emele Augustine as (Provost).


Others are; Barr Norah Onyeananam (Asst Secretary), Kelechi Amadi (Fin Sec), Prince Echefu (PRO) and Mr. Ubochi Wilson respectively.


Speaking, Chairman of the occasion, Hon Dr Ezechi commended the team for their emergence, and charged them to be proactive in the discharge of their duties.


The outgone Chairman, Associate Prof Majesty Duru expressed delight on the election of the new executive, adding that their emergence was as a result of the sacrifices he made for the peace, unity and development of the association.


Adding his voice, Acting President of the association, Princess Chyka Ukaga represented by the Secretary General, Ikechukwu Ogbonna enjoined the new Exco to anchore its programmes in line with the constitution of the alumni, maintaining that the national leadership would do everything possible to support all chapters that are viable in its activities.


Addressing the team, Chairman of the planning committee, Prof Emeka Onyema said that he decided to accept the responsibility of coordinating the event as part of his efforts to stabilize the alumni, and pleaded with the new executive to take the association to an enviable height within the shortest time frame.


In his remarks, the new Chairman, Barr Okey Nwelue, who spoke on behalf of the exco thanked Imo Stars across the state for finding them worthy to serve at this critical time, and promised not to leave any stone unturned in ensuring the growth of the association.


While promising to work in synergy with his executive further urged them to be ready to work at all times, added that as a person not known for failures, the current leadership must realize its set objectives.
