Owerri West LGA Agog as 'No Vex Unity Cup 2024' Kicks Off in Grand Style

The inaugural edition of the Hon. Prince Osinachi Amakor 'No Vex Unity Cup 2024' for all the wards in Owerri West Local Government Area commenced with great funfair and celebrations as Umuguma (Ward 2) convincingly defeated Obinze (Ward 8) 3-0 in the opening match.
The thrilling encounter took place on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 4:30 pm at Bishop Lasbery Girls Secondary School football pitch in Irete, Owerri West LGA, Imo State.
Umuguma struck early, courtesy of Emma Ekechi's impressive solo run down the left flank, resulting in a stunning goal in the 25th minute. This solitary strike gave Umuguma a 1-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Umuguma continued their attacking momentum, netting two additional goals through Amuzie Eze in the 55th and 78th minutes. Obinze struggled to find their rhythm, unable to respond to Umuguma's relentless pressure.
Umuguma's Chigozie Franklin earned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Speaking to Journalists after the match, esteemed businessman and philanthropist, Hon. Prince Osinachi Amakor, CEO of No Vex Group of Companies and Executive Vice Chairman of Owerri West LGA, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from dignitaries, including:- Imo State FA Chairman, Barr. He announced the competition's prize money:
- Winner: ₦600,000
- Runner-up: ₦400,000
- Third place: ₦300,000
