Clash of Titans In Aba, As Enyimba Tackles Rangers In A Blockbuster NPFL Oriental Derby

As the NPFL Match day 15 unfolds, the stage is set for the iconic Oriental Derby, where historic rivalries and high-stakes competition take center stage. 

Aba's pride, The People's Elephant , will square off against their perennial foes, The Antelopes, at a time when both teams have points to prove and ambitions to solidify.

Since 2010, the two Oriental giants have clashed 27 times, with Enyimba holding the upper hand with 12 wins compared to Rangers’ 7. Seven encounters have however ended in stalemates.

Fresh from a tough outing in the CAF Confederation Cup against Egypt's Al Masry, Enyimba's gaffer, Coach Yemi Olanrewaju, has emphasized the importance of bouncing back domestically. Speaking ahead of the Oriental Derby, Olanrewaju highlighted the team's focus:

"The players don’t need to be reminded of the rivalry. We are fully aware of its significance, and we’re channeling all our energy into getting a positive result in the league before thinking about our next continental tie."

Despite injuries sidelining some key players, the coach expressed confidence in the depth of his squad:

"We have a large squad capable of stepping up. We’ll soldier on and fight for a result."

Rangers International enter the derby on a high, having drawn 1-1 against Heartland FC in another Oriental clash before dismantling Lobi Stars 3-0 at their fortress, the Cathedral. Under the astute leadership of Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, the reigning NPFL champions would be hoping to continue their unbeaten streak.
