Henry Nwosu Cup: Brilliant Umuosu Beat Umuakali To Reach Final
Joseph ODOEKWU
Umuosu recorded their first ever victory against Umuakali to reach the final of the ongoing Henry Nwosu Cup after a first half goal from Unaegbu Precious made the difference.
History may not have favoured Umuosu over Umuakali in the past, but this generation of players were bent on putting their names on history and they accomplished it in such a brilliant manner with a decisive victory which will remain evergreen in the history of the competition.
Umuakali had hoped to record a comeback, but they lacked the will and character to do so despite being in control of the game and having at least two opportunities to do so.
Umuakali captain, Chiaka had an opportunity to level up with less than 10 minutes to end the game when he had a clear chance to do so, but that miss was a clear indication that Umuakali was out and every other hope of coming back went down with that lost opportunity as fans, players as well as Chiaka himself could feel it that it was end of the road.
Umuosu may not have had a spectacular team that could match Umuakali, but they were good tactically to manage a desperate Umuakali side who were anxious to score and take the ball to penalties.
The victory for Umuosu means they are the first to reach the final and will be waiting for the outcome of the result in the second semifinal game between Umezuo and Umuorie on Sunday when both sides lock horns.
