Nkwachukwu Kwere Ogwa U-17 Football Tourney Kicks Off Dec 10
The CEO Malick Pro FC, Chief Kachi Atufule "Nkwachukwu Kwere Ogwa" (Chairman, Imo State Club Owners Association) in collaboration with Henco Football Agency is organizing the inaugural edition of the Chief Nkwachukwu Kwere Ogwa U-17 Football Tournament.
This highly anticipated competition is set to kick off at the Emmanuel College soccer pitch, Owerri, Imo State, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 2:00 PM and it's aimed at identifying, nurturing young talents as well as promoting grassroots football development in the state.
The first edition of this tournament will feature eight teams divided into two groups. Group A comprises Sunshine FC, Malick Pro FC, Moriho FC, and Pakat FC, while Group B consists of Pakin FC, Soluma FC, City Cruz FC, and Silva Stars FA.
The group stage promises to be highly competitive, with each team vying for a spot in the knockout rounds and ultimately the championship trophy.
Speaking on the initiative, Chief Kachi Atufule shared words of inspiration with the young players. He emphasized the importance of using this platform to showcase their skills and dedication to the sport. In his address, he stated;
"This is a platform where you showcase who you are, what you have, the talent in you. I advise every player to be dedicated in what you do, put in your best especially at this age (U-17). Don’t wait until you get to a higher platform. If you want to have this as your business, give it all you have, so that the sky is going to be your limit. This is a stage that you make a mark. It's not easy but don't relent. Always persevere in every aspect of football and put in your best."
The tournament offers significant incentives to motivate participating teams. The winner of the competition will be rewarded with ₦150,000, while the second placed team will receive ₦100,000. These prizes are aimed at encouraging excellence and fostering a competitive spirit among the young athletes.
Chief Atufule and Henco Football Agency, is committed to ensuring the tournament runs smoothly and achieves its objective of talent discovery. The organizers hope the competition will serve as a stepping stone for many players to reach greater heights in their football careers.
