Enyimba FC-HamKam FC Partnership: A Game-Changer For Nigerian Youth Football Development

The iconic Enyimba International Stadium in Aba came alive once again as Enyimba FC successfully hosted the second edition of their groundbreaking football partnership program with Norwegian club HamKam FC. Held between February 14th and February 17th, 2025, this initiative marked another milestone in the Kanu Nwankwo-led administration's commitment to youth development, talent discovery, and grassroots football growth in Nigeria.

With the Enyimba Sporting Director an ex-Super Eagles winger, Ifeanyi Ekwueme at the helm, the program provided young Nigerian players with world-class training sessions, mentorship, and exposure to international football standards. Speaking passionately about the partnership, Ekwueme emphasized its long-term impact on Enyimba and Nigerian football as a whole.

The programme had Mr Leon Bardachi (FIFA licenced Aganet with Hamkam FC), Mr Chris Twiddy - Hamkam FC Team Manager and Mr Jorgen Bjorn - Hamkam FC Sporting Director take on Enyimba FC youth coaches and players on regorious football development programmes to develop their knowledge.

Ekwueme: _"This is What We Want Other Clubs to Emulate"_

"The development we are doing now is a long-term structure," Ekwueme stated, underlining the importance of sustainability in youth football development. "When they say Enyimba FC is the number one team in Nigeria and Africa, this is why. We want other clubs in Nigeria to emulate what Enyimba FC is doing to develop young talents in the country so we can have the same structure of youth development nationwide."

Ekwueme's remarks reflect Enyimba's broader vision—creating a robust talent pipeline that not only benefits the club but also strengthens Nigerian football at all levels. "I thank Enyimba Chairman Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo and our Sporting Director Ifeanyi Ekwueme for their efforts so far," Akuma said. "We have learnt a lot from the HamKam FC partnership and training program. I am going to work towards the program to enable me to teach my boys what they taught us here."
