Ogbako Ihitte Foundation: Unlocking the Potentials of Ihitte Children Through Education Empowerment

 

In today’s world, education is widely recognized as one of the most significant tools for breaking cycles of poverty and investing positively in the next generation.  It has the potential to unlock doors of opportunity, foster equality, and build a stronger society. For many children, access to quality education remains elusive due to financial barriers. Ogbako Ihitte Foundation, a sociocultural cum economic development not-for-Profit organization over the week deployed their resources to initiate different educational empowerment programs for children from Ihitte clan in Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. 

The Foundation which is made up of well-meaning individuals has become a beacon of hope and empowerment for the children of Ihitte clan. The group whose focus is to eliminate the barriers that prevent children from attending school and empower them to pursue their education without fear of financial hardship have engaged themselves to pull collective resources to develop the education and the human capacity in primary and secondary schools within Ihitte clan. In his opening speech at the Secondary Schools Science Quiz Awards and Primary School Empowerment event where children drawn from all primary and secondary Schools from Ihitte clan gathered, the President of Ogbako Ihitte Foundation, Engr. (Chief) Innocent Ike Enwenaonu Uzu 1, KSM expressed deep commitment of the group to keep supporting the educational needs of Ihitte children by providing essential educational resources. He described some of the challenges that hinder access to education to include total lack of will, and scarce resources to children of underprivileged families who may otherwise be unable to afford schooling. He hinted that the heart of Ogbako Ihitte Foundation remained broad to the mission that sprang from a belief in education as the key to unlocking opportunities and breaking the cycle of poverty. Therefore, ensuring that every child born within the community of Ihitte had access to quality education was their focus. He concluded with a testimonial of the critical role children’s education support can play in creating a better and brighter future for the next generation of Ihitte.The Chairperson, Education and Youth Development Committee of Ogbako Ihitte Foundation, Dr. Mrs. Nnedinma Nancy Nnodim in her keynote speech described the event as humanitarian and sustainable. She reiterated that this support from Ogbako Ihitte Foundation is to encourage the students to excel in their academic pursuit. The climax of the event was the award of cash prizes to the best three (3) science students and the distribution of educational materials to all the public and private primary schools in Ihitte Clan. The event witnessed the award to students who won during the science quiz competitions and distribution of educational materials to students. The event also culminated in the exhibition of students’ cultural dance troops drawn from various schools in Ihitte. Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion were HRH Eze Rev J C Uwalaka, the chairman of Ihitte/Uboma council of Ndi Eze, other traditional rulers of Ihitte clans, Chief (Supol) Geoffrey Iwuagwu, President General, Umuderim Development Union and Chief Mrs. Ihezi Ngozi Emeakaroha and other women leaders from Ihitte.
